When I was younger (in the 60's), I remember when industry quietly finally removed MSG from baby food because it had been proven to literally eat holes in the brain of developing infants. An attorney (Turner) helped to expose this and his interview can be seen in the documentary "Sweet Misery".

This video recently hit the internet. (A few small details in it might not be fully correct, but the overall landscape is pretty spot on.)

I'd strongly encourage any new mother to breastfeed. It's healther AND more cost effective than formula.
