New Bill - Internet "Kill Switch"

FOX NEWS - Internet 'Kill Switch' Proposed For President
A new bill introduced in the Senate would give the president the equivalent of an Internet "kill switch" if passed.
Broadband providers, search engines, software firms and other similar companies would be required to "immediately comply with any emergency measure or action developed" by the Department of Homeland Security. Failing to comply would lead to a fine.

I hate the idea of this. It's like them wanting to shut down the news channels, radio stations, etc.

BBC Story From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attacks..."
Fred Burks, former language interpreter for Presidents Bush and Clinton, assisted in making known the following government document and BBC story which has not been covered well by the American Press.

The declassified government document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It became declassified from a "Freedom of Information Act" (FOI) request. The document is signed by Rumsfeld (Secretary of Defense).

BBC Story: "US Plans To 'Fight The Net' Revealed"

The operations described in the document include a surprising range of...
...Perhaps the most startling aspect of the roadmap is its acknowledgement that information put out as part of the military's psychological operations, or Psyops, is finding its way onto the computer and television screens of ordinary Americans...
...Psyops messages will often be replayed by the news media for much larger audiences, including the American public...

PSYOPS is a means of intentionally deceiving targeted individuals and populations through a variety of sophisticated methods for specified objectives.

July 16 NEWS
Feds Ignore Due Process
Shut Down Thousands of Blogs

http://torrentfreak.com/u-s-authorities-shut-down-wordpress-host-with-73000-blogs-100716/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:%20Torrentfreak%20%28Torrentfreak%29
Now it appears that a free blogging platform has been taken down by its hosting provider on orders from the U.S. authorities on grounds of “a history of abuse”. More than 73,000 blogs are out of action as a result.

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20100716/04053910248.shtml
“That seems odd,” notes Techdirt, a website that covers government policy, technology and legal issues. “If there was problematic content from some users, why not just take down that content or suspend those users. Taking down all 73,000 blogs seems… excessive.”
